This work is based on my memories as a seven year old when I spent time living close to this enchanting woodland in North West England. It was a place to let off steam, play out childhood fantasies and find peace. I believe this episode in my life was crucial in nurturing my passion for light, and nature - a subject I have often returned to in some form or another during my career. In order to create an intense richness and vibrancy I applied a process of painting in layers - first acrylic, then oils, and finally oil pastels.
